13th Army Band helps inaugurate Florida governor

The great state of Florida inaugurated its 44th governor, Charlie Crist this month with the help of the 13th Army Band.

The band helped frame the inauguration ceremony, as they were tasked with providing ceremonial and entertainment music for the thousands gathered in the morning chill. As the guests arrived, the band delivered a somber, patriotic medley, which with the bunting and waving flags, helped remind those in attendance of the historical significance of the unfolding events.

In order to convey the Governor's commitment to the people, he requested to enter the stage to, 'Fanfare for the Common Man'. Those few strains were the preamble to his inaugural speech. The 19-gun, Howitzer, salute was the exclamation mark at the end of that sentence.

Governor Crist’s entrance and the popular, 'Fanfare' made all of the TV news clips, as did the Governor, sitting on the back of a sports car in his inaugural parade, following his band, the 13th Army Band.
